Tyrannosaurus Specimen 

Specimen: MOR 980

 Nickname(s): Peck’s Rex, Rigby’s Rex, etc.

Details: MOR 980 was discovered July, 4th 1997 near Fort Peck in Montana. The skeleton is relatively complete and includes: a fairly complete skull with jaws, multiple vertebrae of the back and tail, a well preserved gastralium, and hipbone with complete ischium and pubis, along with other parts of the skeleton. Peck’s Rex has also been the subject of research regarding parasitic infections in dinosaurs. Research regarding the arms has also been conducted as they show signs of use.

This was a quick, but nice stop on our travel day! Awesome to see the extensive collection of dinosaur fossils and regional history displays.
Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, Montana at Montana State University is a Smithsonian Affiliate and is recognized as one of the world's finest research and history museums. Known for its collection of dinosaur fossils and its permanent regional history exhibits.

  1. Fort Peck is close to Malta, where Colby's Montana Grandparents(Whitcomb) grow up.
