1st week of daycare

Stella started her 1st week of daycare this past Monday, June 23rd. Her teachers are Larizmar (right) and Arlene (left). They said that she a very good girl all week. We think the teachers are starting to bond with little Stella. Larizmar is originally from Venezuela and will eventually teach her some Spanish.
It was really nice to see Stella recognize her Mom and Dad and greet them with a big smile when picking her up from daycare. Stella has her own crib for those afternoon naps at the daycare center.

Hand eye coordination improving

Stella began showing more interest in and grabbing for the rings on her bouncy seat. As of June 24th she just started grabbing the rings. She reached and hit and finally grabbed one a couple of times.
June 28 UPDATE: Stella grabbed and held the ring! She pulled it so hard that it started playing music several times.

In addition to grabbing her mobile. She has also started grabbing, guiding, and holding her bottle for a few seconds.
Not too long before she is holding her own bottle!

Stella's 2 month Doctor visit - she's growing.

On Friday, June 20th, Stella had her 2 month Doctor visit. She now weighs 10lbs 14oz and is just over 23 inches  tall. Stella was in a happy mood, talking and smiling to the Doctor until she was given a round of vaccinations.
With assistance, Stella likes to stand up as you can see in the picture. She has been doing this for the last couple of weeks now. We will hold her arms for support, but Stella is doing all the work. Her Mom and Dad think that she may just start walking before crawling.

First nap in her crib

Stella took a little nap in the crib while mom cleaned her room. She usually sleeps in her bassinet in mom and dad's bed. Today was the first time she actually fell asleep in her crib.

“Ok, ok already…..I’m done with these pictures. Can somebody get me a bottle.”

Visit from Aunt Kari

Aunt Kari came to visit for a few days and lend a hand while Joe was out of town.

Kari and Stella talked about thumb versus finger sucking. They both agreed that sucking the two middle fingers is best. Stella sucks her fingers just like her Aunt used to.

She cooked breakfast and dinner while dad was away and, as much as possible, let mom take a break. Thanks Aunt Kari!!

New friends

Stella hung out with some new friends today. Above, Stella hangs out with her new bestie, Iris.

Stella really liked "talking" to Becca. Thanks so much to Becca, Iris and aunt Kari for putting together a wonderful dinner and letting mom relax for a few minutes!

Stella sleeps - a milestone!

Last night, June 4, Stella hit a most welcome sleep milestone of 8 hours overnight.
When she did wake up this morning, she didn't cry but laid happily in her bassinet. Maybe this was Stella's 3 year wedding anniversary present to her parents.Very  thoughtful gift!

Notable quote from Colby

Did you hear that? "Her farts are so loud now it almost sounds like fabric ripping."

Stella sleeps - compilation

Above: after finishing a bottle, Stella sleeps comfortable at Mom's side. She has now slept as many as 5 consecutive hours at night. Still waking up at least once during the night, but overall she is letting Mom and Dad get a little more sleep.
A hard day at the office. Time to grab some shut eye.
She likes to sleep with her hand in a fist as seen in this pic. Below: another hard day calls for an afternoon nap.
Sleeping here with her hands on top of each other, arms almost crossed. Mom and Dad enjoy listening to the sounds she makes while sleeping, the grunts, the coos and the peaceful sighs.
Sleeping soundly in the baby wrap pictured below.
Catching some ZZZ's in her Dad's arms while enjoying the weather on the front porch
This is another good pic - hands clinched in a fist and her right arm appears to be supporting her head.
