First real steps

Foster has been standing and crawling for a while now. He’s been getting closer and closer to walking lately by taking a step here and there.

In the last few days, he started taking a step or two consecutively.

Today, Christmas, he was finally distracted enough to actually walk. He was holding some new toys and walked across the living room.

Just a little bit of practice and he’ll be running...now we are really in trouble!

Out of the infant car seat

Foster has officially moved out of his infant car seat...

To a toddler car seat which is what big sister rides in.

He will be riding rear facing until he is more than 40 lbs. He’s currently around 22lbs and growing quick.

Thanksgiving- Foster’s first

This Thanksgiving was a nice few days and Foster’s first. Mom cooked lots of food starting Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of Thursday’s feast.

Stella appreciated the Thanksgiving fixin’s more this year than in previous years. She especially enjoyed having her own turkey drumstick.

She helped Dad carve the Turkey.

Foster tried a little taste of mashed potato and sweet potato casserole.

He seemed to like both but maybe not as much as his usual pureed babyfood or milk.

Big beds

A few weeks ago, Stella moved into her big girl bed, a twin bed.

She passed her crib-converted-to-a-toddler bed on to Foster.
Although its been set up in his room for 2 weeks, he refused to sleep for more than a few hours in it.

He would normally wake from a dead sleep in mommy or daddy’s arms as he was being gently lowered into the bed. Occasionally, he would fall back asleep but usually he would just cry until someone gets him out.

Last night, November 25th, he finally slept through the night in his crib. It took some work and ups and downs, but he finally fell asleeo for good around 10:30 and slept until 6:30!

Fingers crossed he does that again soon!

Christmas tree hunting

Our tradition seems to be to cut down our Christmas tree and get it set up the week before Thanksgiving.

We went to the same place we got our tree from last year, Purinton Maple and tree farm.

Stella had a lot if fun picking the right tree. Foster, who was napping when we first arrived, had a nice warm view from his carseat

Daddy helped Stella cut diwn and carry the tree to the car.

Halloween 2017

Last year, mom, dad, Stella and Uncle Cameron dressed up as furry animals for halloween. We had so much fun dressing up together then that we decided to do a group costume again this year.

We choose the wizard of oz characters - Stella was a perfect Dorothy Of Kansas, Foster was the (not-so) cowardly lion, Daddy dressed up as Dorothy's bestfriend the Scarecrow. Thanks to Daddy's creative costume-making skills, Mommy was the Tinman.

It was a little cool out for trick-or- treating but Dorothy and toto made out pretty well.

Stella's school had a little halloween party on Saturday before Halloween.

Fall fun

Here in Vermont over the last few weeks, we've been lucky enough to have unseasonably warm weather. At least a few days each week has been in the 70's with no rain.

The nice weather had allowed to spend more time outside enjoying fall activities like picking pumpkins...

and carving jack o'lanterns...

And raking up and jumping in leaves...

Stella loved the leaf pile but Foster didn't enjoy it quite as much.

Learning to crawl

For basically the entire month of September, Foster has been crawling around.

However, he was only moving backwards. He hadn't quite gotten the forward movement part until October 8th.

Suddenly, it just clicked. From that point on, he's gotten faster and faster. He is even more mischevious and curious now that he's semi-mobile, getting into anything sister is doing, crawling onto the roomba and starting it, even getting into the dog's bed.

He likes going fast...wont be long before he's walking. He already loves to drive!
